Outside Torecilla beach, you can snorkel in several reefs. Feel free to check out the snorkel map, which you will find physically out on the small mini-pier just west of Torecilla beach.

West of Torecilla beach and all the way below Punta Lara is Playa playazo. Translated into Swedish, it becomes approximately "big beach". One of the most popular hiking trails is the Rio Chillar, where you can walk along the river and swim in natural pools. Remember to bring comfortable shoes (we recommend sneakers that you are not afraid of - because they will get wet), water, some nuts/snacks and sunscreen for a pleasant and safe hike.
NOTE - Rio Chillar is closed since 2023, due to fire risk. Right now (updated April 2024) it is still closed due to "littering" and fire risk. It is unclear when it will open to the public again.

9. Activity around Nerja - Catamaran trip with dolphin safari
A great activity, especially if you have children with you, is to take a catamaran tour and look for dolphins. Think of it as a fantastic boat trip along the coast where you can enjoy the beautiful view, and at the same time look for dolphins (!). If you are lucky enough to come across the dolphin in a school, it can be an experience you will not soon forget. We have tested two options, a more luxurious option which includes water play, food, drinks etc (fantastic experience albeit expensive) and a budget option where we got to see LOTS of dolphins when we were out on the sunset tour.
Luxury: Optimist of London II", a catamaran departing from Puerto Marina del Este, about 30 minutes east of Nerja. Website
Budget: Catamaran Tours from Torre del Mar, about 20 minutes from our Nerja to the west. Website.
